SAM IO Needles

SAM IO® Needles are single-use intraosseous access needles designed for use with the reusable SAM IO® device. They enable fast, reliable and safe administration of fluids and medications through the bone marrow cavity when conventional intravenous access is delayed, difficult or impossible.

Each needle consists of:

• stylet (inner needle) – a solid metal core that provides rigidity during insertion, facilitates smooth penetration of the bone, and prevents bone fragments from clogging the lumen. Once the medullary cavity is reached, the stylet is removed, leaving only the catheter in place,

• catheter – through which IV lines can be connected and infusion initiated.

Available in three lengths, chosen according to patient anatomy and insertion site:

• 15 mm – for small children or sites with minimal soft tissue,

• 25 mm – for older children and adults with average tissue depth,

• 45 mm – for larger patients or when deeper access is required.

These needles are designed for speed, safety, and effectiveness in critical situations, making them suitable for both pre-hospital and in-hospital use.
